ABOUT THE Choir: Since 2009, the CWU Chamber Choir has held annual recording sessions to create videos specifically designed for YouTube. All are under the baton of Dr. Gary A. Weidenaar, who has been the director of the Choir since 2006. As of Fall, 2016; there are 26 videos. As the introduction states, Eric Whitacre's famous "Sleep" was originally composed to Robert Frost's "Stopping by Woods on a Snowy Evening", but when Whitacre realized the Frost estate was not releasing permission for musical settings of the poem, Charles Silvestri wrote the poem "Sleep" around the music Whitacre had written. To honor the inspiration the poem gave Mr. Whitacre, and to further honor all poets who inspire choral composers, we presented this beloved piece with the original Frost lyrics.  less
