Consolacion II Based on the theme from the movie "Il Postino" by Luis Enriquez Bacalov Humans are subject to being relational with one another. With this, one of the horrors the Covid-19 pandemic has caused is the shutdown of all possible aspects of normal human interaction, and choral singing and rehearsals for the same are no exemption to the new rule. This does not mean, however, that distance defeats the purpose of creating harmony, especially in music. It is in this light that I formed a Virtual Choir from my group, CANTUS, as well as other friends from various music communities. This is the product of a team effort: the singers, the pianist, the video and audio editor; you name it. Technology has given us all kinds of possibilities. But again, no words can ever express how much we miss seeing each other, teasing each other, laughing with each other, and most of all, singing with each other; simply put, just being together. Boosting about 190 choristers ages 5 to 18, the HCC offers youth vocal training and music instruction to foster creative expression and appreciation of music. Its latest Choir program, Lads & Gents, is a boys Choir program that provides young male singers (ages 8 to 28) with an opportunity to explore their choral instrument within a safe, supportive environment, surrounded by other boys and young men. Cantate is a mixed-voice youth Choir based in Bishop’s Stortford, Hertfordshire. It is open to all young singers, whatever their background and musical upbringing. Cantate comprises three Choirs for children and young people which all perform to an exceptionally high standard. Cantate performed at the Royal Albert Hall, both in the BBC and Schools Prom Concerts, the Royal Festival Hall, the Barbican, the Guildhall London, 10 Downing Street, St Paul’s Cathedral, the Basilica of St Francis in Assisi, St Mark’s Basilica in Venice, and in many local and regional venues. Cantate has gained many national and international awards. In 2008 we achieved international acclaim at the world’s largest choral event – the World Choir Games in Graz, Austria – in which over 430 Choirs from some 90 countries competed. Cantate won gold and silver medals, and was the only UK Choir to win a gold medal in the finals.  less
