The Boychoir’s reputation for excellence has brought invitations from local and national music conventions, as well as sporting events and touring Broadway companies. The Boychoir has performed with the Minnesota Orchestra, the Minnesota Opera, the Saint Paul Chamber Orchestra, the Baltimore Symphony, the Prague Philharmonic, Garrison Keillor’s A Prairie Home Companion on National Public Radio, amongst others. This season our choirboys will be featured in Minnesota American Choral Directors Association’s 50th Anniversary Celebration Golden Finale Concert along with first-time appearances with the Wayzata Symphony Orchestra, Edina Chorale and St. Philip the Deacon Lutheran Church choir (Orff’s Carmina Burana). They are also the c...  moreThe Birralee Blokes are the winners of the 2012 International Kathaumixw "choir of the World" award and also the winners of the Youth Section in the same competition, held in Canada in July. They are also the current ABC Classic FM choir of the Year. In addition to this they were judged Youth choir of the Year and also received the Listeners' Choice Award. In 2008 they were part of the Channel 7 Battle of the choirs TV show, making it as far as the quarter finals, where they met their Waterloo with ABBA's song of the same name. Membership is drawn from state and independent secondary schools and universities and there is a strong emphasis placed on inclusion for any young man who enjoys singing and expresses a desire to develop as a musician. The Blokes released their second CD in March 2011. This was released on the ABC Classics label and the album "Towards Infinity" has received excellent reviews. In addition to this...    less
