Their mission is to entertain, educate, unite and uplift ...  moreNashville Singers was founded in November of 2008 by a handful of men who had the desire to join their voices with the voices of others committed to excellence in vocal and Choral performance. Their mission is to entertain, educate, unite and uplift their audiences and members through music that is distinguished for its innovation, diversity and artistic excellence. Their philanthropic mission is to provide funding and support for music education in our schools and the community. On September 10 of this year, Nashville Singers awarded their first Music Makes a Difference music education grant to John Overton High School. The singers are all volunteers, range in age from teenagers to retirees and travel from five different counties throughout Middle Tennessee to be a part of the chorus. We aim to give two or three concerts each year, plus a Christmas concert of music and readings. We are based in the village of Rolleston-on-Dove near Burton-upon-Trent, and draw our members – numbering around 50 at present - from a wide area of East Staffordshire and South Derbyshire. It has 170 singing members in soprano, alto, tenor and bass sections. Presenting classical Choral music of a professional standard in Yorkshire and elsewhere in Britain, including at the BBC Proms and Manchester Arena, the Chorus is broadcast regularly on BBC Radio 3. The Leeds Festival Chorus was first formed in 1858 (the year Queen Victoria opened the Leeds Town Hall) to sing at the first Leeds Musical Festival, and was reformed for each succeeding one. The Chorus became independent in 1985. It celebrated its 150th anniversary in 2008 with a performance of a specially-commissioned work by Judith Bingham - a world premiere. Since our first concert in 1995, Orpheus has presented a multi-concert subscription series each year to great critical acclaim. Orpheus has performed throughout the Dallas-Fort Worth area at venues including the regional conference of the American Choral Directors Association, the Dallas Museum of Art, the Kimbell Museum of Art, UT-Southwestern Medical Center, Children’s Medical Center-Dallas, and numerous public schools.
