Currently in residence at the Church of St. Ignatius of Antioch on Manhattan's Upper West Side, the Chorus performs an eclectic range of music, from a cappella compositions to works for chorus and orchestra, from countries around the world. Our diverse repertoire spans the 14th to the 21st centuries, including recent performances of the Brahms Requiem, Mendelssohn's Elijah, Bach's Magnificat and Christmas Oratorio, as well as new commissions by Kristin Kuster, Elliot Levine, and Jonathan David. Phillip Cheah joined the Chorus as its Music Director in 2010.  less

The group pursues two main aims: on the one hand to revive old, nearly forgotten Carinthian folk songs, and on the other hand to enrich the Carinthian music scene by new songs and interpretations. The Oktet Suha has performed more than 1400 times in Austria and all over Europe, as well as in the USA, Australia, Ukraina, Argentina and Canada. They had lots of tv and radio appearances worldwide. Oktet Suha has released 12 CD ́s since and is the main organizer of the annual cross boarder vocal Festival Suha. Their Highlights were the European Award for Folk and Art and the Silver award of the Slovenian Republik.  less

In addition, they hail from eleven different states in the Union: Alabama, Arizona, Florida, Maryland, New York, North Carolina, South Carolina, South Dakota, Tennessee, Texas, Virginia and, of course, Washington, D.C. The group actually began in October 2005 recording a small project of a cappella hymns (The Hymn Project) as a Christmas gift for one of their mothers. Well, long story short, nine Singers met for the first time in a small, basement studio, spent about 10 hours recording some of their favorite hymns and the rest is, as they say, history. It is well known a...  moreGOSPEL Singers WANTED, Audition 5th & 6th July 2021 – Black History Month Background Union Chapel is a historic church based in Islington with a small but enthusiastic congregation looking to expand our horizons. It is well known as an iconic music venue attracting major artists. It is also a centre for social justice and community activities. In recent years, the church has been developing music in our Sunday services with a range of genres, classical, jazz, gospel, and world music. The church has also created several unique events led by our musicians. These have included our annual Christmas Candlelight service, Good Friday evening performances and smaller events to commemorate such occasions as Black History Month, a remembrance event in the Covid pandemic. Besides the usual church festivals, we also have special services for Refugee Week, Gay Pride, Holocaust Memorial, and other special commemorations.
