The objective was to bring about musical performances...  moreThe LAZ EKWUEME CHORALE was founded in October 1974 with a view to getting together in a small Choir the best available and professionally trained singers in Lagos, the then Federal Capital of Nigeria. The objective was to bring about musical performances (of choral works by foreign and Nigerian composers) of sufficiently high standard for international consumption, within the limitations of national resources. The CHORALE which has grown in size to over 100 singers has given numerous concerts in Lagos and other towns in Nigeria, including Aba, Abakaliki, Abeokuta, Abuja, Benin, Calabar, Eket, Enugu, Ibadan, Ife, Nsit Atai, Oko, Owerri, Port Harcourt, Umuahia and Uyo. It has performed many times on Radio and Television and has featured on many State, National and International functions. It was the nucleus of the Nigerian National Choir for FESTAC 77. It was established in Rome (Italy) with the aim of promoting and encouraging musical activities and the practice of choral singing. The Choir has taken part or organized more than 800 concerts, shows and musical events in churches and places of culture in Rome, Italy and abroad. It took part in choral competitions, celebrations, weddings and commemorations. The Choir sings mostly a cappella and its repertoire ranges from sacred and spiritual music to popular music and from 16th century polyphony to choral works by contemporary authors, focusing especially on Italian composers.  less

We are a group of around 60 men based in Hampshire/Surrey in UK and who love to sing. We aim principally to entertain our audiences and ourselves, to raise money for local charities and to have fun doing it.
