We aim to give two or three concerts each year, plus a Christmas concert of music and readings. We are based in the village of Rolleston-on-Dove near Burton-upon-Trent, and draw our members – numbering around 50 at present - from a wide area of East Staffordshire and South Derbyshire. The forty boys of the choir are educated at Westminster Under School, part of London’s historic Westminster School, established before 1179 as a monastic school of the Benedictine Abbey of St Peter. In 1560 the school was re-founded by Queen Elizabeth I for boys to be “liberally instructed in good books to the greater honour of the state.” Ever since, the school’s history has been intertwined with the momentous state events and political turmoils of the capital. Orpheus has performed throughout the Dallas-Fort Worth area at venues including the regional conference of the American Choral Directors Association, the Dallas Museum of Art, the Kimbell Museum of Art, UT-Southwestern Medical Center, Children’s Medical Center-Dallas, and numerous public schools.
