Audio performance by RosThern Junior College Chorale 2003. Chorale is a 38 voice mixed Choir of 15-17 year olds from RJC, a small (circa 100) School in The middle of The Canadian Prairies.

This performance, however was part of The me...  moreI wrote this in 1976 for The six singing students of Pat Scanlon, a colleague of mine at West Heath School, who died from complications of Hodgkins Lymphoma. The first performance was at her memorial service. This performance, however was part of The memorial service in St Martin in The Fields, for Ruth Rudge, who was a very distinguished and lovely lady, and also my first boss. The ladies of The Occasional Choir, whose beginnings were as The Madrigal Choir at West Heath, which I co-founded, all those years ago, are The singers, including one of The six that took part in The very first performance. I am conducting, and Penny Walker, who now directs The Choir is accompanying. Unfortunately less than half The singers are visible in The video.  less

I have given this song The sub-title: "A Crazy Choral Etude for Rolled Rs and Perfect 5ths." It is meant, no pun intended, to be a musical lark, great fun for a Choir to sing, rolling Rs like crazy, with no holding back. NB: One day I woke up to The realization that I had independently written four Choral works, each of which had evoked a different season, and so it seemed natural to group Them togeTher into a Choral suite that I have called "The Ottawa Four Seasons Suite." "Let's sing, it's Spring!", with its rousing coda section, works perfectly as The closing number of this suite. Also of note, in early 2018, I applied to be a participant at one of The Vancouver Chamber Choir's Interplay workshops funded by The SOCAN Foundation and to my delight I was accepted.
