The score is at once rhythmic and exciting, haunting and unsettling. It was a winner of the 2018 Uncommon Music Festival Composition Competition. It is accessible for all fine high school, collegiate and community choral ensembles. Performers are encouraged to present this work in a more dramatic fashion than usual, “within (or surrounding) the audience.” 2018 Winner of the Uncommon Music Festival Composition Award & premiere in Sitka, Alaska, summer 2018.  less

Sung by us at a singing course in Nottingham in 1977 Here the strong mallow strikes her slimy root, Here the dull night-shade hangs her deadly fruit; On hills of dust the henbane's faded green, And pencill'd flower of sickly scent is seen; He...  moreSung by us at a singing course in Nottingham in 1977 Here the strong mallow strikes her slimy root, Here the dull night-shade hangs her deadly fruit; On hills of dust the henbane's faded green, And pencill'd flower of sickly scent is seen; Here on its wiry stem, in rigid bloom, Grows the salt lavender that lacks perfume. At the wall's base the fiery nettle springs, With fruit globose and fierce with poison'd stings; In every chink delights the fern to grow, With glossy leaf and tawny bloom below: The few dull flowers that o'er the place are spread Partake the nature of their fenny bed. These, with our sea-weeds, rolling up and down, form the contracted flora of our town.  less

The choir is the oldest College choir in Ghana and arguably in West Africa; established in 1964. The choir is inspired by the mission of singing psalms, hymns and spiritual songs as an act of worship to the glory of God and to minister to the souls of men. Over the years, the choir is been noted for very inspiring and sensational concerts and oratorios that seek to fulfill the mission above. Very recent of such ministrations include; Israel in Egypt (2008 and 2010), Indulci Jubilo(2015), Handel's Chandos Anthems (2016), Singspiration (2017),and Laudate Deo (2018). The choir has through these platforms touched the lives of many deprived entities through her social welfare responsibilities. We can't say it all and ignore the wonderful personalities the choir has nurtured over the years. Nach Graz waren auch die Sängerinnen und Sänger unseres Gospelchor...  moreHerzlichen Glückwunsch Gospelchor Rejoice: Die 5. World choir Games Graz 2008 sind der größte Wettbewerb in der Geschichte der Chormusik. Es waren rund 441 Ensembles aus 93 Nationen dabei. Nach Graz waren auch die Sängerinnen und Sänger unseres Gospelchores Rejoice mit ihrem Leiter, unserem Kirchenmusiker und Küster Roland Orthaus gefahren. Und sie siegten! Rejoice holte eine von nur 6 Silber-Medaillen, die an Deutschland vergeben wurden. Für Rejoice bedeutet das, dass sie "Deutscher Meister" und "Vize-Europameister" in der Kategorie „Gospel/Spiritual" geworden sind.  less
