Fondly referred to as POWERHOUSE, the Choir was formed in 1986 for a church building fund program. In 1988 the Choir was officially founded and directed under the leadership of Shawn Cotterell. With thirty-five voices and a multi-talented band, the Choir’s repertoire ranges from hip-hop, reggae, traditional and contemporary gospel. The director and founder of this anointed Choir is Shawn Cotterell. Shawn Cotterell’s first musical experience began at the age of seven singing in a church Choir. By the age of twelve, Shawn answered the call of God on his life and began organizing the Powerhouse Fellowship Soul Choir. The live repertoire on offer includes traditional and original songs from all regions in Africa in local languages and in English, but also incorporates interpretations of African–American classics. LONDON AFRICAN GOSPEL Choir’s live shows range from 6 piece a cappella to a full blown 20 member band and Choir. The dance choreography so much a part of the live show brings a unique and spectacular element to the performances. Shows are adaptable to festivals, theaters, concert halls, corporate events, street events, weddings and funerals. The Choir can also provide backing singers and musicians for third party recordings and performances.  less

Inspired by the majesty and relentless power of glaciers, this composition uses them as a metaphor, transposing their might onto the people who, through their presence, shape us and leave an indelible mark. In each of us, these individuals are like giants who, much like glaciers, move mountains and sculpt valleys, paving the way for us to find our destiny. Through the simplest and most primitive elements of life, we find the essence of what shapes us day by day. It is in the everyday, in the elemental, where the strength that transforms us and prepares us to face the world’s challenges is hidden.  less

The style of singing is more 'pop' than classical and the choice of music reflects this, with the repertoire including show-tunes, popular songs from the 1930s to today, as well as classic barbershop arrangements. There are strong links to musical theatre in that most songs are choreographed, and performing skills are a key element in making a song work. We rehearse every Tuesday, 6:30pm-9:00pm, in central London between Kings Cross and St Paul's. Blue Spirit Vocals ( http://www.bluespiritvocals.co.uk/ ) are a new and exciting youth Choir from Bristol formed in January 2010 and already has over 50 members. These amazingly talented youngsters perform beautiful, uplifting music. The repertoire is an eclectic mix of music ranging from folk to musical, traditional and popular in a fun and friendly atmosphere. Their confidence, infectious enthusiasm and passionate singing make them enchanting to watch. Seasonal performances in and around Bristol, include prestigious venues such as the Colston Hall and Bristol Zoo.  less
