The choir is an ad hoc group of pros assembled for the session. This is raw footage, captured on my camera with its tiny microphone. I was so excited about how the session went that I wanted to share it, even with its various minor imperfections.
UPDATE: This track is available on my upcoming CD due out Feb 10, 2015

A new setting – straightforward, text-driven, no extremes of range – no divisi, but has drone sections where staggered breathing would normally be used.
Erratum: Bar 9 should read "et spes" – it's been corrected in the score.

We run inspirational residential courses and training programmes, create remarkable concerts and performances, and work in partnership to get singing happening in schools and open settings. We do it because singing together at the highest level transforms young people's lives, and we want to make sure that as many as possible get the chance to experience it for themselves. less

How lovely shines the Morning Star!
The nations see and hail afar
The light in Judah shining.

Thou victorious
Prince of graces,
Filling all the heavenly places. less

We sing in solidarity with them, raising our voices to the "Song of Belarus," while their voices again rise with hope and light to change lives once again. The opening passage is: “Border, sanctuary, asylum, bridges not walls.” The text draws from (and paraphrases) several sources: contemporary media, Emma Lazarus’ “The New Colossus,” the Bible’s Matthew 25:31-40, currency, and others. The changing meters of “Border” fill the work with an uptempo, rhythmic energy that propels it forward. “Border” is a call for justice, empathy and compassion, a summons to our collective conscience. It is appropriate for ensembles at the community, collegiate, and advanced high school levels. “timely… It is a call for humanity.” - Susan Glass, Glass Menagerie Chorus, NY a “powerful statement” - Dr. Heather Mitchell less
