This song was written by Ralph Schmitt who (amongst other things) leads the Rodean Girls School Choir (Johannesburg). We had the pleasure of learning this from them at a workshop before a joint concert in 2010. If you hunt YouTube you can find several clips of them performing it magnificently. Members saw the need for a name which reflected their distinctive sound and musical objectives. They chose Voyces – a uniting image, powerful in its simplicity, a word with a bit of a twist, reflecting the eclectic and often unusual repertoire of the choir. In using the archaic spelling – ‘Voyces’ – the choir acknowledges thousands of years of rich choral tradition whilst establishing itself in the 21st century choral landscape. The choir is fast making a name for itself premiering works never before heard in Perth or in fact the world. Voyces seeks to be an interactive and involved performing group in the local WA and wider Australian musical community. As a strong supporter of emerging young composers and Australian composers, Voyces showcases their works on a regular basis.  less
