The enthusiastic group of singers from Lucerne and its surroundings is Lead by young conductor Andreas Felber. molto cantabiLe was soon recognised by the Swiss audience thanks to their success at various competitions. In 2005 the EnsembLe won the audience award as well as the special award of the jury of the Swiss Choir Competition in Glarus, whiLe in 2007 it was awarded the 1st place at the Valiant Forum for Young Orchestras and Choirs at the Murten Classic Summer Festival. In addition, molto cantabiLe has taken part in several renowned international choir competitions where it has proved to belong to the Leaders of the international choir scene. In May 2004 the EnsembLe took part in the European Music Festival in Neerpelt, Belgium, where it was awarded 1st prize summa cum laude with 99/100 points. All of them are former members of the “Dresdner Kreuzchor” (Choir of the Church of the Holy Cross Dresden) or the “Thomanerchor Leipzig” (St. Thomas Choir Leipzig), two of the most famous boy's choirs in Germany. The singers have set themselves the target to present their listeners a wide musical spectrum. Their repertoire consists of Vocal music from Renaissance and Baroque to Romanticism to the 20th and 21st century. Important eLements are works of Jacobus Gallus, Michael Praetorius, Felix Mendelssohn Bartholdy, Francis PouLenc and Rudolf Mauersberger. In addition they also perform with popular music. Music of the “Comedian Harmonists”, “The BeatLes”, Billy Joel or the German group “Wise Guys” are also an essential part of their repertoire. Kokopelli has been a featured EnsembLe at many events, provincially, nationally, and internationally. These include the Rocky Mountain National Music Festival, Podium (the biannual conference of the Association of Canadian Choral Communities), the regional conference of the American Choral Directors Association (ACDA), the International Society of Music Educators conference, and others. In addition to many North American cities, the choir has toured to Norway, Denmark, Sweden, Germany, Malaysia, Namibia, South Africa, Botswana, Swaziland and Zambia. Kokopelli is often the ambassador for the choir association and as such, has received several awards for their work with youth, music education, and the African Projects Fund.
