The SYC was formed in 1998, as children's Choir singers grew and voices changed! This four part chorus (Soprano, Alto, Tenor, Bass) is devoted to music of all styles, including Classical, Broadway and Contemporary tunes. These dynamic and talented singer...  moreThe SYC was formed in 1998, as children's Choir singers grew and voices changed! This four part chorus (Soprano, Alto, Tenor, Bass) is devoted to music of all styles, including Classical, Broadway and Contemporary tunes. These dynamic and talented singers range in age from 14-25, and include young women in gr.11 and higher, and young men with changed voices. The SYC annually participates in The Family Christmas Concert, and choreographed year end show. They also stage an Orchestra Concert each spring, which has presented pieces such as Haydn's Lord Nelson Mass, Vivaldi's Gloria, and Requiems by Mozart, Faure, Rutter, and Daley, to name a few. This year, The SYC looks forward to singing Carl Orff's Carmina Burana. The Youth Chorus joined The senior and chamber Choirs in Their 2009 tour to The UK. They were ecstatic to receive 8th place standing in The Mixed Voices category at a festival that boasts participants from over 50 different countries. We are a music group from Tembisa, in Gauteng. The group was founded in 2020 and it hosted it first event in October 2020. We released our first single track with Umlazi Levites Choir on 26 March 2021. We are available on all major social media platforms.

The competition asked readers to rewrite some banal instructions in The stvle of a famous writer. Brechlin chose to rewrite one verse of The traditional dance song The Hokey Pokey as if written by William Shakespeare, for which he won The prize of a shotgun shell salt and pepper shaker.
