The choir is active in concert activity. It repeatedly performed in cities and towns of Latvia , Russia , Lithuania , Estonia , Belarus , the Ukraine , France, Hungary , Germany , Poland , Austria, Netherlands, Great Britian, Spain, Italy. In the repertoire of choir there are works of different styles from Renaissance to modern Aleatory . Folk and sacred music has an important place too . As these things do however, the ...  moreThe New 4tet is a group of four friends, Gemma, Emma, Gary and Noel, who as very experienced choral Singers decided to meet once in a while to drink wine, chat, socialise, and do a bit of singing together, just for fun. As these things do however, the project has started to grow arms and legs, and we became available for the occasional bit of singing in public when we feel like it. Since then our performances have included singing in Glasgow Art Club, and in Edinburgh for the Royal College of Physicians. Based in the west of Scotland, we have all sung together in a prominent Glasgow choir, but the New 4tet gives us a chance to enjoy the much more intimate sensations of singing one to a part. All four of us have been involved in the music industry to a greater or lesser degree, and we all sing to a very high standard and love performing. We perform to a high standard and have a friendly but hardworking atmosphere. There is no audition but some previous experiece, past or present, and the ability to read music can be very helpful. We have won every single competition we have taken part in so far and are looking to improve our game and become better at what we do. With a membership of 65-70 musicians from throughout the campus, this ensemble is quickly becoming recognized for its musical excellence. Recent concerts have included Johann Sebastian Bach’s Lobet den Herrn, alle Heiden, Samuel Barber’s Reincarnations and Benjamin Britten’s Rejoice in the Lamb. Strong sight-reading skills and musicianship are important to membership. This ensemble is directed by Dr. Jonathan Babcock, associate director of choral activities. Texas State University Singers rehearses Mondays from 5:00–6:30 PM (M222) and Tuesdays/Thursdays 2:00-3:20 PM (M222)  less
