We perform mainly, but not exclusively, classic...  moreThe Barnes Choir, originally known as the Barnes Music Club Choir, was established in 1953/4. A friendly and sociable Choir, we number some70 Singers drawn mostly from the Barnes, Sheen and Richmond areas. We perform mainly, but not exclusively, classical choral works, including those of local composers such as Howard Goodall and Gustav Holst, and we occasionally commission new works, most recently from Russell Hepplewhite. We perform three concerts each season at local venues and we also sing at local charitable events at Christmas, and at summer fêtes, and we raise funds for local cancer support charity The Mulberry Centre at our Christmas Carol concert. We offer an open Come and Sing day each season and arrange overseas singing tours, our most recent being a trip to Lisbon last autumn.  less

The Choir’s extensive repertoire covers all periods of vocal music and the 20th. century, among them choral works composed by R.R. Klein, A. Koerppen, F. Farcas and many others more. Some of the works have been specially composed for HARMONIE Lindenholzhausen. At the same time the Choir dedicates itself to oratorioes usually performed together with the female Choir “Dzintars” Riga / Latvia. Numerous concert tours and participations in international festivals took the HARMONIE to Austria, the Czech Republic, Egypt, England, Greece, Holland, Hungary, Macedonia, Russia, USA and Wales. In Wales the Choir won first prize in the male Choir category at the International “Eisteddfod” Llangollen in 1995 and 2007(second prize in 2003).
