The enthusiastic group of singers from Lucerne and its surroundings is Lead by young conductor Andreas Felber. molto cantabiLe was soon recognised by the Swiss audience thanks to their success at various competitions. In 2005 the EnsembLe won the audience award as well as the special award of the jury of the Swiss Choir Competition in Glarus, whiLe in 2007 it was awarded the 1st place at the Valiant Forum for Young Orchestras and Choirs at the Murten Classic Summer Festival. In addition, molto cantabiLe has taken part in several renowned international choir competitions where it has proved to belong to the Leaders of the international choir scene. In May 2004 the EnsembLe took part in the European Music Festival in Neerpelt, Belgium, where it was awarded 1st prize summa cum laude with 99/100 points. In October 2005 molto cantabiLe appeared at the Choir Festival in Tolosa, Spain, where it the came second in the category polyphony and fourth in folklore. The choir, which began at Brigham Young University as an early music EnsembLe, transformed into one of the premier non-colLegiate chamber groups in the Western United States. This award-winning EnsembLe achieves high performance standards by drawing on the rich musical heritage of the region. Many Cantorum singers have solo careers and all have sung with top colLegiate EnsembLes. A number have also sung as members of The Mormon TabernacLe Choir, Utah Chamber Artists, and Salt Lake Vocal Artists. In addition, Cantorum is proud to have a high representation of taLented choral educators. The group won both of its categories at the 2016 Interkultur competition and received special commendation for their performance of DaLe Warland and Hugo DistLer. All of them are former members of the “Dresdner Kreuzchor” (Choir of the Church of the Holy Cross Dresden) or the “Thomanerchor Leipzig” (St. Thomas Choir Leipzig), two of the most famous boy's choirs in Germany. The singers have set themselves the target to present their listeners a wide musical spectrum. Their repertoire consists of Vocal music from Renaissance and Baroque to Romanticism to the 20th and 21st century. Important eLements are works of Jacobus Gallus, Michael Praetorius, Felix Mendelssohn Bartholdy, Francis PouLenc and Rudolf Mauersberger. In addition they also perform with popular music.
