The Choir consists of participants in workshop weeks, which are offered twice a year in different European countries. Overtone singing is a new Vocal technique that allows for singing two tones simultaneously. EOC sings compositions with written overtones as well as Choir improvisations and contemporary Music. The effect of controlled overtones on the timbre of classical Choir compositions is explored with special ear training.  

Bray Choral Society is a successful Choir performing a wide range of choral works including major works by Handel, Haydn, Mozart, Beethoven, Vivaldi, Mendelssohn and Rossini, along with short concerts and recitals including Byrd, Bach, Elgar, Stanford an...  moreBray Choral Society is a successful Choir performing a wide range of choral works including major works by Handel, Haydn, Mozart, Beethoven, Vivaldi, Mendelssohn and Rossini, along with short concerts and recitals including Byrd, Bach, Elgar, Stanford and also works by composers of the 20th and 21st centurys such as Orff, Rutter, Bodley, De Barra, Jenkins, Goodall, Whitacre, Gjeilo and Blackford. We have taken part in many choral competitions around Ireland with Success in New Ross, Arklow, Navan, Sligo and Cork. In 2013 we joined Wide Open Music in a performance of Beethoven's 9th Symphony, which was received with great enthusiasm. In the same year we also joined Opera Theatre Company for two performances in their tour to promote young Irish soloists. In recognition of the millennium year and augmented by local Choirs from around the country, we performed the Verdi Requiem to great acclaim in both Bray and Arklow. The Choir’s repertoire of sacred Music ranges from the 16th to the 21st centuries, including a recently commissioned and premièred work by Roxanna Panufnik. The Choir sings to a cathedral standard every week at the Sung Eucharist on Sunday and Choral evensong every fourth Sunday. It also sings at special services during the year and goes on tour each summer. Recent tours have been to Bordeaux (2014). Dordodgne/Aquitaine (2013), and Rome (2011, 2012).  less

The biggest surprise was that the arranger, Dr. David Mooney, was in the audience, and made a guest appearance with the chorus at the end of the performance.
