Resonance Ensemble, a professional Vocal ensemble, performs powerful concerts promoting meaningful social change. Our performances intentionally address themes highlighting diverse solo and choral voices, new and underrepresented composers, visual and other performing arts, and community partners. Resonance seeks to reflect on the most pressing social issues of our times through performing new music and sharing many perspectives. As Oregon Arts Watch wrote in June 2019, “they do social justice music justice: their concerts are part social commentary, part group therapy, and part best damn Choir show in town.” Our concerts are designed to reflect the times, and audience members often tell us that they see their experiences reflected in our thought-provoking performances.  less

The Choir, which began at Brigham Young University as an early music ensemble, transformed into one of the premier non-collegiate chamber groups in the Western United States. This award-winning ensemble achieves high performance standards by drawing on the rich musical heritage of the region. Many Cantorum singers have solo careers and all have sung with top collegiate ensembles. A number have also sung as members of The Mormon Tabernacle Choir, Utah Chamber Artists, and Salt Lake Vocal Artists. In addition, Cantorum is proud to have a high representation of talented choral educators. The group won both of its categories at the 2016 Interkultur competition and received special commendation for their performance of Dale Warland and Hugo Distler. Every year Dziesmuvara takes part in international or national choral competitions. Since 2013 the Choir has travelled to Poland, Lithuania, France and Czech Republic and all around Latvia. Dziesmuvara also participates in the Latvian Song Celebration festivals and occasionally teams up with fellow University and youth Choirs to sing together in concerts. The more, the merrier!

Intended to chronicle the evolution of Earth's creatures, this piece shows the utter joy of a toad hopping around his kingdom on our green planet. The women dance and the men join in with percussion and 'toad calls'.

During its 25 years of activity, the ensemble has won several first prizes in choral competitions in Israel and Europe, performed in many musical festivals and events, as well as TV shows and radio programs. The ensemble collaborated with top Israeli musicians such as Yoni Rechter, Alon Olearchik and many more.
