AfterGlow's mission is to perform beautiful choral works of all genres with the highest level of musicianship and emotional meaning. Musical genres performed by the chorus include Baroque, Classical, Romantic, 20th Century, 21st Century, spirituals, pop, rock, R&B, and Jazz. Both a cappella (traditional and contemporary) works as well as accompanied pieces are performed.  less

New members are always welcome. No auditions required though our director may ask you to sing to verify your placement in the correct voice range. See the Bulletin Board for details. GGCC generally performs at least two concerts per year, a Winter/Christmas Concert in December and a Spring Concert.

It has also performed at Abbey Road Studios, the London O2 Arena and Hampton Court Palace. Abroad, the choir has given concerts in the Cathedral of Notre Dame in Paris and the Pushkin Palace outside St Petersburg, at festivals in Aix-en-Provence, Strasbourg, Aachen and Cork, and at other important venues in Russia, the Czech Republic, Hungary, Holland, Iceland, France, Germany, Spain, Belgium, Italy and Latvia. The choir’s repertoire is broad, ranging from the great choral and orchestral works by Verdi, Brahms, Mozart, Handel and Bach to contemporary commissions. Our purpose is “to sing, in harmony, a variety of music for the enjoyment of the members as well as to give public and private performances for the listening pleasure of others”. During our musical season (September – June), the choir practices on Monday evenings from 7 – 9:30 PM at Broadmoor Baptist Church in Richmond. In addition to our weekly practices we usually plan one or two workshops with a choral clinician, as well as evenings with guest directors. We have two major performances per year, a Family Christmas Concert in December and a Spring Concert in May. We are very involved with our community and, by giving benefit concerts, help to raise funds for other organizations such as the Richmond Hospice Society, Canadian Cancer Foundation and Tim Horton’s Kids Camps. We perform for many organizations in and around the Western Pennsylvania area. Anyone wishing to sing is welcome and invited to come to a rehearsal prior to committing to the group. No auditions are necessary. We also sing in a yearly competition called Saengerfest held in June each year. Members chorus' are: Altoona, Williamsport, Reading, Lebanon and Mon Yough. Each chorus hosts the competition on a rotating basis. Rehearsals are held each Sunday at Sampsons MIlls Presbyterian Church at 1665 Lincoln Way in White Oak, PA 15131 from 7:00 PM to 9:00 PM. The Mon Yough Chorale was formerly known as the Mon Yough Community Singers. The Mon Yough Chorale has a long history in the Mon Valley. The organization started as The McKeesport Choraliers in 1962 merging with the White Oak Community Singers in 2001 becoming the Mon Yough Community Singers. It’s been at least 15-20 years now that we have participated in numerous festivals and concerts all over Greece but also all over Europe. In 2005, as adults, we decided to establish this particular group with the assistance of the Children’s Choir. We have given concerts in Hungary, in several cities in Greece and especially in Chalkidiki. In 2011 new members have been included in the group and we have changed our name into “THAMYRIADES”. Our repertory extends from classical to rock, pop and musical. You will have the opportunity to listen to us in selected halls. In Greek mythology, Thamyris (Greek: Θάμυρις), son of Philammon and the nymph Argiope, was a Thracian singer who was so proud of his skill that he boasted he could outsing the Muses.
