HIMIG SANGHAYA is a coined Tagalog phrase for MUSIC OF THE HIGHEST HONOR. The directors, conductors and members of HIMIG SANGHAYA DO NOT TAKE SINGING LIGHTLY. They are a group of very young and talented artists who revel in their music, nurturing it as if it were an integral part of their being. They own up to a technical and musical maturity only to be surpassed by world-renowned and seasoned performers. They train very hard and continuously challenge themselves to achieve higher goals by aiming to master pieces of ever increasing levels of difficulty, and never fail to enthrall their audiences with repertoire that ranges from Renaissance to the 21st century, and experimenting with pieces influenced by lavish flavours of cultures worldwide.  less

Performed by the Chamber Singers ensemble of The Girl Choir of South Florida on May 18, 2012, at All Saints Episcopal Church in Fort Lauderdale, Florida. Artistic Director: Wallis Peterson. Translation (Romanian): Sun and stars, many tiny ones A game of light on the mountain peak, The snow has melted easily, It flows clearly towards the spring. The warm wind carried the spring, The doe once again leaps through the valleys. She drinks from the pure, crystal river That pours itself smoothly into the sea; Springtime is fully born, The sea is rising, waves with foam, Migratory birds are gathering, A siren sings sweetly to them, "la da lo ..."  less

The evangelist tells the story, arias convey the inner feelings of us humans as we gaze upon the Golgotha scene and choruses and chorales reflect on our own place in the drama. Bach's incredible work of art stands alone in its complete telling of the crucifixion story in a manner which stirs and moves the soul of the performer and listener. This is a mountaintop experience not to be missed.  less
