ECS Publishing Catalog No. 5906 --- A Prayer for Chanukah We thank you for the wonders, for the liberation, for the powerful actions and deeds of deliverance, performed by you, and for the victories of our ancestors in their struggles in ancient times at this time of year. In the days of the Hasmonean, Mattathias, child of Johanan the High Priest, and his children, a tyrant rose up against the people of Israel to make them forget your laws and violate the rules of your commandments, then, in your abounding compassion, you rose up for them in their time of distress;...    less

I love you, I love you, I love so immensely, Mother, mother, sweet mother. For your love and your kindness, I will sing your praises all of my life. (Ahh) My soul is delirious at the cries of your pain; My music throbs and groans its length. Lord, in your kindness, Comfort my mother. Give her your love, your strength and your light. For over a century the interNationally recognized distress signal has been the Morse Code sequence for SOS: 3 short, 3 long, 3 short ( . . . - - - . . . ). This became the rhythmic framework of note durations (heard in various ways) throughout this work, though it collapses when the Chorus sings of “catastrophic climate collapse.” The SOS pattern then returns, transformed into longer durations, calling for renewed attention and devotion to our environment. Commissioned by the Glass Menagerie Chorus, NYC.  less
