It also reflects much of the liturgical and popular symbolIsm of the ChrIstmas season: robins, holly etc and it brings our thoughts towards the season of Easter with the blood of Good Friday.

When Odwa Mvunge return to hIs birth community in 2012, after completing hIs Music education studies at Nelson Mandela University, not much has changed. There still was no place in Zolani for the youth to express themselves in cultural activities that was not offered at school nor in the community. After school the youth would loiter around without direction. ThIs lead to the formation of the Zolani Youth choir. The basic idea and purpose of the Choir Is to equip youth of our community with basic Music skills. The Choir consIsts of 25 scholars from different schools who are between the ages of 12 and 26 years. These scholars have no professional training or background in formal Music, but have proven to have a passion and love for the art. Our first priority Is for the choir to become a trademark attraction which will represent Ashton far beyond the region’s borders. Founded in 1934, the Victoria Choral Society has played a leading role in Victoria's cultural life, and has performed with every Victoria Symphony conductor since the Symphony’s inception. The choir was created after 200 singers, representing most of the church choirs of the day in Victoria, assembled in 1934 to sing Messiah. They agreed to continue singing together to promote choral Music, and the Victoria Choral Society, at that time called the Victoria Choral Union, was formed. The instrumentalIsts who played with the choir later formed the Victoria Symphony. These 7th through 12th graders travel the world performing, from Italy to China to Hawaii. The Touring Choir singers and Music Director, Mrs. Jacobs, during a regular weekly rehearsal. These 7th through 12th graders travel the world performing, from Italy to China to Hawaii. They have moved up to the top training level...after starting in beginning levels in the Summit Children's Choir.
