The present Society was founded in 1961, so we are now in our 51st year and still going from strength to strength. We perform three or four main Concerts during The year, with programmes featuring anything from Bach (Christmas Oratorio, St. John Passion) to Beatles, Gounod (Messe Solennelle de Sainte Cecile) to Gershwin, Rutter (Requiem, Magnificat, carols) and Haydn (Creation, Te Deum) to Rogers and Hart.  less

Celebrating world music and arts Promoting multi-cultural awareness Supporting children's health and education projects in The Gambia, West Africa As well as hosting an annual World Musicand Arts Festival and The Choir we also run a weekly West African Drumming workshop. Both groups enjoy performing at our own and oTher local community events and festivals.

It has grown to a higher level by achieving numerous titles within The past few years and also recognized as The best Tenor Bass voices from a School Choir around The country. (Title gained 2014 onwards). The Choir has performed in National and International level stages (2012 Rome) and hosting many Choral events in negombo including The biggest carol service in Negombo since 2007.(Maris Carols). It is trained by Mr. Francis De Almeida (Choral Director) since 2004. This Choir has influences some Youth Choirs including Speranza , etc.... and also The Past Pupils Choir (The Old Maris Choir). The Choir is still hosting many Choral Events in Negombo. PG Carnivalesque" under The patronage of Prof. Krzysztof Wilde, rector of Gdańsk Tech, attracted several hundred people who listened to daring performances of popular pop music hits. During The performance we heard Choral arrangements of hits such as: "Dancing Queen", "Memory", "California Dreamin'" and "Maria". This time it was not Mozart or Bach, but ABBA, Queen and songs from The musical West Side Story that graced The walls of The Gdansk University of Technology in carnivalesque musical artistic creations. Jazz musicians performed along with The Choir, and The musical effects were accompanied by a unique lighting arrangement, which required appropriate space and audience arrangement. The more-than-hour-long performance by The Academic Choir of The Gdańsk University of Technology, conducted by Prof. Mariusz Mróz and accompanied by musicians from The Music Academy in Bydgoszcz, ended with joint singing, encores and a standing ovation.  less
