Since i...  moreThe Choir was founded on November 10th, 2010 and is continuing its efforts by including in its repertoire polyphonic Turkish folk songs, Choir pieces of different periods and Cyprus polyphonic Choir pieces along with the world Choir literature. Since its foundation, the Choir is in continuous improvement and has been involved in many workshops with Prof.Mustafa Apaydın which were organized twice a year. The Choir has a mixed membership including music teachers, musicians and amateur Choir singers. The Choir’s name is inspired by the famous story written by William Shakespeare and Guiseppe Verdi’s famous opera called Othello and the Othello Castle which is located in the City of Famagusta. The City where the Choir is based is known as “Othello’s City Famagusta” all around the world. In the last six years since its formation, the Othello Choir has given many concerts in Cyprus and also hosted festivals and Choir workshops. We believe that anyone can sing and are an open-access Choir - no auditions, all needs catered for. We have just done two small performances after only rehearsing for 6 weeks!

This is a Choir for mission through praising. Pilgrim Mission Choir gives regular concert once a year with ever new and differentiated church music leading the circle of choral music as a pioneer. The Choir is also recognized with its performance. It manages concerts more than 10 times a year like rush of invitation, local tour and church tour concert. Focusing on church music, repertoires of the Choir cross over every age like renaissance, motet, baroque and classic, and every genre like spirituals, gospel and modern music. The singing of the Choir is always enough to excite the audience. The Choir consists of participants in workshop weeks, which are offered twice a year in different European countries. Overtone singing is a new vocal technique that allows for singing two tones simultaneously. EOC sings compositions with written overtones as well as Choir improvisations and contemporary music. The effect of controlled overtones on the timbre of classical Choir compositions is explored with special ear training.
