Th...  moreThe girls quartet in which Manca Simonič, Urška Brank, Ana Plemenitaš and Višnja Fičor are singing is called Gallina, in translation pullet. But the only association is their liveliness, ease and wittiness. The group was established in the end of 2010. The girls were singing together in several acknowledged Slovene choirs and they all still sing in varied singing groups (RTV Chamber Choir, Opera Choir SNT Opera and Ballet Ljubljana, Vocal Group iZbor …) The leader of the group is a promising young conductor Ana Erčulj, who is regularly attending masterclasses led by Slovene and foreign experts. Besides ordinarily performance they are working on implementation of the program by binding singing with other arts such as dancing and visuality. Their reperoaire consist of slovenian Folk music, vocal jazz and pop. Gallina is working with young composers and encourage them to write for female quartet in different styles. We were originally founded as a workplace choir for K Shoes (taken over by Clarks) of Kendal, Cumbria in 1969. We have around fifty members and support local and national charities. We are a very friendly choir and welcome new members.

The choir is known for its modern choral music repertoire, consisting of Songs from all over the world as well as pop music masterpieces. The group was awarded a silver medal in pop music category during 5th 'Music Everywhere Festival' in Gdansk in 2019. So far, the choir has performed in several places in Poland, often the non-obvious ones, trying to make choral music available to everyone. The choir’s conductor, Zuzanna Popiołkiewicz, graduated from Conducting faculty at the Academy of Music in Gdansk. The choir has travelled widely over the years with tours in Europe, United States and Canada besides engagements throughout Wales and England. Our concert venues have varied from village halls to national auditoria and great cathedrals. In the Eisteddfod field we have won two National first prizes plus several seconds and others.
