During the 1990s the Chorale helped re-establish this historic church’s secondary role as a center for culture and Community. ADC’s artistic success and benefit to the Cathedral Community inspired additional collaborations with other Dallas cultural institutions. In 2001 The Cathedral Chorale became the Arts District Chorale, receiving its non-profit 501(c)(3) status in 2004.
Arts District Chorale is now a signature all-volunteer ensemble of 60 gifted amateur and professional vocalists from all walks of life which annually presents four large-scale season events and ten to fifteen smaller events in collaboration with the world-class cultural venues of the downtown Dallas Arts District. Our annual programme typically includes 6-8 concerts in the Harpenden area and further afield, a cathedral tour, open singing days and the occasional recording. We rehearse on Wednesday evenings at St George’s School, Harpenden. We are known for good music making, varied repertoire including regular commissions, excellent soloists, interesting concert venues and loyal patronage of a range of local hostelries….
We come from a wide range of musical backgrounds and have a thriving interns scheme for talented singers from local schools.
Over our 50 year history, the Leas have sung under 11 permanent conductors and many guests, each of whom has made a distinctive contribution to our style and repertoire. In December 2011 we appointed Benjamin Goodson to take up the baton.

Founded in 2003 our musical journey takes us from Jazz to soul, pop to singer/songwriter. We are not professional singers but each of us has a very musical background and we use every opportunity to further our musical horizon, especially in terms of timbre and dynamics. Strong influences are the scandinavian contemporary choir scene led by Vocal Line, Bobby McFerrin, Take 6 and many more. Enjoy!
