The Saskatoon Chamber Singers was founded in 1977 by a group of former Greystone Singers (University of Saskatchewan) who wanted to continue singing in a quality choral ensemble. The choir has been a finalist in both the CBC choral competition for amateur... display='';$(this).getParent().style.display='none';">moredisplay:none;">The Saskatoon Chamber Singers was founded in 1977 by a group of former Greystone Singers (University of Saskatchewan) who wanted to continue singing in a quality choral ensemble. The choir has been a finalist in both the CBC choral competition for amateur choirs and the International Choral Kathaumixw in Powell River, British Columbia, and participated in the non-competitive Festival 500 in St. John’s, Newfoundland. It has also been the guest choir at Saskatchewan Sings, and sang at the installation of Lynda Haverstock (a former member) as Lieutenant-Governor of Saskatchewan. In 2010, the choir performed at Podium, the biennial conference of the Association of Canadian Choral Communities, held in Saskatoon. The choir’s repertoire has been rich in variety since its establishment, and Canadian music has always been an important component of its programming. The "Santa Maria" Choir is founded on November 21st, 1993, and arises from a group of singers linked with the Parish of Santa Maria de la Estrella (Coria del Río) who decide to set up a Polyphonic Choir. These young people toget... display='';$(this).getParent().style.display='none';">moredisplay:none;">The "Santa Maria" Choir is founded on November 21st, 1993, and arises from a group of singers linked with the Parish of Santa Maria de la Estrella (Coria del Río) who decide to set up a Polyphonic Choir. These young people together with some pupils of the newly created Conservatory of Coria (1991), begin to take part in numerous religious acts where they interpret authors' plays like To. Lotti, W.A. Mozart, J.A. García, J.S. Bach, G.F. Haendel, and so on. In 1995 the young Sergio Asián takes charge of the choir direction leading it to offering its first concert in June 1996.
