Acappellago was founded in 2002 by a number of community members seeking a musical challenge. We present a wide variety of music ranging from Classical, contemporary, jazz, pop, gospel, spirituals & have given a number of world, US & Chicago premieres.

We are a non-denominational choral group that has been to many places across Nigeria since 1993, engaging in meaningful musical activities. We have striven through tick and thorns, giving us better view of HARMONY, as the key to attaining great heights.

We ...  moreThe Island Consort Chamber Choir is a 20-voice community chamber choir that first appeared in concert in late April 2007. Its repertoire is varied and loosely “Classical”, focusing on sacred and secular music of the Renaissance and Baroque periods. We rehearse Monday evenings from 7:30 to 9:30. This is an auditioned group with considerable musical and choral experience, one that aspires to a higher standard of performance. Our members include amateur and professional musicians, choir directors and music educators. Prospective members may audition from time to time as positions come open. Contact the choir if you have an interest in joining. We perform mostly a cappella pieces, but many of our concerts include accompaniment by members of the Nanaimo Chamber Orchestra and organ.  less

This choir is partnered with a non-profit organization called the New York Community Alliance for Sickle Cell Anemia Inc. We plan to use our concert venues for aiding this organization's cause. Our conductor John Hunter II is a young but competent conductor. He received his Master's in Choral Conducting from Mansfield University.
