The group was founded in 2001 in Leioa's the Music School by Basilio Astulez, its current conductor. Kantika's repertorie has always balanced folk, sacrum and contemporary music. Due to the projects such as operas, international tours and TV concerts the Choir enjoys a fine popularity.

The poem has a clear structure (verse – chorus), and the vocal parts are kept straightforward. The striking piece contains some jazzy chords and humorously unexpected twists. This work won the first prize in the 2013 Composition Competition of the European Choral Association in the frame of the festival Youth Choirs in Movement.
