We have fun as we build friendships with Singers from many schools, sing a wide variety of music and bring joy to the community. We are ideal for Singers who want more singing in their life! We are proud of our alumni singing at NOVA, NYU, JMU, UNT, Bridgewater, Longwood & Westchester.

Formed by Graham Taylor in 1983 as The New Glasgow Singers, a small group of passionate choral Singers looking to take on some of the less well-known works in the choral repertoire, it has grown into an organisation that has around 100 members singing a wide range of musical genres but still with the core wish to seek out and perform the less familiar pieces. We perform a regular series of concerts each year: the details for the current season can be seen here. The range of music includes serious classical works, programmes of choral classics, West End musical pieces and the lighter popular music included in our annual Christmas Cracker concert. Our full repertoire can be seen in our list of past concerts. Some notable highlights have been Walton’s Belshazzar’s Feast, Beethoven’s Missa Solemnis, Berlioz’s Grande Messe des Morts and Mahler’s Eighth Symphony - the Symphony of a Thousand.  less

We welcome people of all nationalities and faiths, who want to experience the joy of singing and exploring music as a way of building community based on love and respect. The choir performs several major concerts each year; its Christmas and Spring concerts in Amman are highly anticipated events. Dozan wa Awtar’s repertoire includes a wide range of sacred music, from Byzantine hymns through the chorale classics of Western music to the present day and Islamic anasheed. The choir also enjoys performing secular music, including folk songs from around the world, Broadway hits and arrangements of popular, contemporary music in many languages. A sub-group of the choir, called “Dozan,” is specializing in performing traditional and contemporary music in Arabic. Swan. Foreward: Santiago Veros wrote Almas de Barro at the age of 19, dedicating it to a young woman who at the time was shy and with whom he rarely talked. This piece intimately describes the moments during music theory classes when the two would look at each other continuously, youthfully, and silently, as if unable to do anything else. The piece, written as a counterpoint assignment, was intended to be performed during music theory class as a declaration of love. The idea was to make a musical representation of those moments. The piece begins without words, the voices representing youthful looks. They come together and occasionally dodge each other to highlight the discomfort ...    less
