It was Mr. Bonnie Fonseka, a distinguished Old Boy, who's vision soon came to be a Benedictine tradition, by forming a Musical club. This prompted the birth of the first College Choir. The Choir acquired a reputation for top class singing and in addition often invited to perform at important national events such as to perform with other schools when princess Elizabeth visited Ceylon in 1952. Since Mr. Bonnie Fonseka’s retirement there were many dedicated young Musicians who undertook the responsibility and uphill task of training the Choir. Some of them were Mr. Robert Joseph, Mr. Francis De Almeida, Mr. Nicholas Johnpulle, Rev Bro. Augustine and Mr. Ravein George. Mr. Ravein George revived the Choir in 1996 and guided them to reach the height of success as being cited as a Classical Choir. The Choir won the all island singing competition in the year 1999. The group was founded in 2001 in Leioa's the Music School by Basilio Astulez, its current conductor. Kantika's repertorie has always balanced folk, sacrum and contemporary Music. Due to the projects such as operas, international tours and TV concerts the Choir enjoys a fine popularity.

It was founded in 1936 as the Dow Male Chorus with membership from the men of the Dow Chemical Company. In 1961, Dow discontinued its Music Department and the chorus became the Men of Music and along with the rest of the Dow Music Department formed The Music Society under director Ted Vosburgh. Since then there were several women directors who continued to lead the chorus. The Men of Music continues today providing excellant men's four part harmony with our present very talented director, Grace Marra, who joined the chorus in 1994. We also appreciate the talents of Laurie Habedank who serves as our accompanist.  less
