Dedicated to presenting inspiring and...  moreFounded in 2011 by Artistic Director Tony Burdette, Voices of the Commonwealth, an Ensemble of the Northern Kentucky School of Music, is a 70-voice community chorus for adults in Northern Kentucky/Greater Cincinnati. Dedicated to presenting inspiring and innovative programs that engage and enrich audiences, Voices of the Commonwealth has made quite an impact on the musical life of Northern Kentucky in two short years. Committed to collaboration and community involvement, Voices of the Commonwealth has partnered with the Kentucky Symphony Orchestra, the Disabled American Veterans National Headquarters, Highlands High School choral department, the Northern Kentucky Children's Ensemble, local veterans groups, churches, and musicians.  less

All of them are former members of the “Dresdner Kreuzchor” (Choir of the Church of the Holy Cross Dresden) or the “Thomanerchor Leipzig” (St. Thomas Choir Leipzig), two of the most famous boy's choirs in Germany. The singers have set themselves the target to present their listeners a wide musical spectrum. Their repertoire consists of Vocal music from Renaissance and Baroque to Romanticism to the 20th and 21st century. Important elements are works of Jacobus Gallus, Michael Praetorius, Felix Mendelssohn Bartholdy, Francis Poulenc and Rudolf Mauersberger. In addition they also perform with popular music. Music of the “Comedian Harmonists”, “The Beatles”, Billy Joel or the German group “Wise Guys” are also an essential part of their repertoire.
