The choir was founded in 1838 by Fredrik Pacius and is the oldest extant choir in Finland. At present, Akademen has around 60 active singers, most of whom are University students. However, quite a few choose to stay in the active choir long after graduation, which makes for a healthy mix of youth and experience. We give concerts regularly in Finland, and travel abroad as frequently as possible. In addition to all the Scandinavian and most European countries, Akademen has been on tour in Australia, New Zealand, Canada, the United States, Hong Kong, the Philippines, and Singapore. We believe that ambitious musical development can go hand-in-hand with tradition, and work enthusiastically to keep alive the dialogue between past and present. less

Choir starting concert like an orchestra
In our 'Me and All of You' concerts in March 2017, where the choir was largely accompanying solo instruments in a concerto, or where we were sharing the limelight with a virtuosic soloist, we chose to begin our concert as we would if we were an orchestra!

After the last premiere of the You Raise Me Up recording, the Academic Choir of the Gdańsk University of Technology worked intensively on the next Choral song. This time we went a step further – we created a truly virtual choir in the virtual cathedral. The recording was made in 360° technology, which means that we can listen and watch both sound and image in the full sphere. To capture the full effect, it's best to listen to this presentation in headphones on your smartphone. You can then feel like inside the old temple surrounded by sound from everywhere. less

Formed in 2017, the members come from the island of Ireland and beyond, encompassing a huge range of musical experiences.
The musical connection of the group to Ireland is deep and spans all the traditions present here. The songs and texts date back as far as the Viking raids on Ireland in the 9th century, through to music created by the men themselves under the direction of their Artistic Director Michael McGlynn.
This year the group release their debut album, "M'ANAM" in the Autumn, and are featured artists on the opening track "Clarity" of the latest album by acclaimed Japanese jazz-rock ensemble Mouse on the Keys whose 3rd album "tres" was released this May to universal acclaim.
Their first digital single "Bandó Ribineann" is released this June. less

The KETEVAN World Sacred Music Festival located in Old Goa combines musical traditions from different eras from the East and the West. The KETEVAN Sacred Music Festival is a project of musical and artistic coexistence; a space where the language of music becomes a bridge to connect and foster dialogue among cultures. Located at 10 km from Panjim, capital city of Goa (India), Old Goa is a World Heritage City (declared by UNESCO in 1986) where different cultures have existed and coexisted throughout history since many centuries ago.
