Background The Simon Car...  moreMission The Simon Carrington Chamber Singers – a world-class choral Music ensemble led by renowned artistic director Simon Carrington – engages and enriches audiences through concerts, recordings and educational programs. Background The Simon Carrington Chamber Singers (SCCS), led by artistic director Simon Carrington, is a world class choral Music ensemble based in Kansas City. The group was founded in 2008 by three of Carrington’s former students who shared the desire to form an elite professional vocal chamber ensemble under his direction. SCCS, an ensemble of 24 singers, performs a diverse and challenging repertoire that spans the ages. The group showcases a unique sound that reflects Carrington’s Musical sensibilities: a clear, bright tone with a measured use of vibrato which allows a clear and expressive delivery of the text. Domenico Savio" was born in 1999 with the desire to build through Music, experience of collaboration and sharing. Over the years the interest in polyphony, the study of the repertoire and the vocal approach has grown. The group has joined the A.R.S. cori (Regional Association of Choirs of Sicily) and consequently to FENIARCO (National Association of choirs) with the involvement in all the regional and national demonstrations promoted by the aforementioned organism: exhibitions, concerts and gatherings for choirs. The Revelations won two Gold and one Silver medal at the World choir games in Austria (2008) singing choral a-cappella style Music in the Gospel, Pop, and Male voice vocal ensemble categories. They were also declared world Champions in two of the categories after achieving the highest number of points in these two categories. Undertakes to be a space for youth have contact with concert choral Music. The group sings a diverse and technically challenging repertoire, exploring different sounds and new Musical languages. In his repertoire are works by composers as Janequin, Scarlatti, Bach, Beethoven, Whitacre, Widmer, Stroope, Jobim and Ronaldo Miranda. The styles range from classical to popular, jazz, spirituals, sacred Music, Brazilian Popular Music, opera and Musicals. Since its formation is conducted by Altamiro Bernardes and has Lana Bernardes as assistant conductor. The choir members receive training in vocal technique, Music reading, perception, Music history, harmony and Musical aesthetics, always in the context of choral activity and a language for young people. The essence of the Victoria Scholars’ Music is an emphasis on the clarity and balance of sound so characteristic of Renaissance Music. Their repertoire encompasses medieval plainchant, works from the Baroque, Classical and Romantic eras, contemporary and newly commissioned works. Past winners of the Canada Council Healey Willan Grand Prize in the CBC Radio National Competition for Amateur Choirs, the Victoria Scholars have performed with many of Canada’s exceptional vocal soloists, and have toured both in eastern and western Canada. To begin with I wasn't sure, since they seemed somewhat re...  moreOn Christmas Eve morning 2017, I was approached by a member of our congregation who said he had been inspired by the Holy Ghost to write some words and that he would like me to set them to Music. To begin with I wasn't sure, since they seemed somewhat repetitive, but as the day progressed to the early afternoon I found that I was also inspired (I even missed lunch!). The piece varies in mode from D Dorian to A Aeolian. The performance is by me (multi-tracking).
