Under its dynamic and energetic conductor, Ian Allan, the choir gives two regular concerts, usually at Christmas and in the Summer, and also takes part in the Mary Wakefield Festival in Kendal. In addition, rehearsals are taken by the deputy conductor, Tracie Penwarden, who is not only one of the region's leading sopranos but a superb choir trainer to boot. With the addition of David Edmonds as their accompanist, Arnside Choral Society benefits from the expertise of three professionals, each with different specialisms. Rehearsals take place at Arnside's WI Hall in Orchard Road on Tuesdays at 7.30 and we offer a very warm welcome to anybody wishing to join us in singing a variety of styles. No audition necessary but an abundance of enthusiasm, a sense of humour and the ability to sing in tune would be helpful! To join us all you have to do is turn up to any rehearsal...    less

Away in a manger, no crib for a bed, The little Lord Jesus laid down his sweet head. The Stars in the bright sky looked down where he lay, The little Lord Jesus asleep on the hay. The cattle are lowing, the baby awakes, But little Lord Jesus, no crying he makes. I love thee, Lord Jesus! look down from the sky, And stay by my cradle till morning is nigh. Be near me, Lord Jesus; I ask thee to stay Close by me forever, and love me I pray. Bless all the dear children in thy tender care, And take us to heaven to live with thee there. *** Soloist: Taja Kolmanič Sound: Grega Žuraj & Damir Ovčar Video production, scenario & directed: Matjaž Feguš Asistent: Tomaž Rihtar Producer: Valerija Dukarić Art. director: Robert Feguš Thanks to Municipality of Podlehnik & St. Trinity Church in Haloze. http://trinityensemble.eu  less

The Stars are brightly shining It is the night of our dear Saviour's birth Long lay the world in sin and error pining 'Til He appeared and the Soul felt its worth A thrill of hope the weary world rejoices For yonder breaks a new and glorious morn Fall on your knees; O hear the angel voices! O night divine, O night when Christ was born O night, O holy night, O night divine!

Truly He Himself bore our griefs, and He Himself carried our sorrows; by His wounds we are healed. Sweet cross, sweet nails, sweetly bearing the weight, you alone were worthy to bear the King of heaven and the Lord.
