It’s ALL Canadian and features some of the best award- winning musicians in the country: Anne Lindsay, Tony Quarrington, Stuart Laughton, Stephen Tam, Jordan O'Connor and Kate Carver. Cantores Celestes commissioned five of the pieces without grants of any kind (two by Tony Quarrington, two by Anne Lindsay and one by Clifford Ford). The music will make you happy and be the sound track for your day. The fiddle soars. The double bass grooves as the guitar and piano support the voices of Cantores Celestes. There is trumpet, flute, organ, mandolin and harmonica. There are love songs and odes to the sea. A wildly different tune called Hauntings is based on a scary tale from New Brunswick. Herter, with assistance from Ryszard Gieros and Alfred Stefankiewicz. Almost from the very beginning, it has been afliated with St. John’s Archcathedral in Warsaw, initially as a boys’ Choir. It has performed with many Polish and foreign symphony orchestras. Foreign tours have taken the Choir to over twenty countries. It has won numerous awards at international choral competitions, including those in Lecco, Italy (1997), Moscow (2000), Prague (2002, 2003, 2004, 2017), Międzyzdroje, Poland (2004), Warsaw (2013, 2015, 2016), Grójec, Kraków and Łomża (2017). It has also taken part in several television and theatre productions. Cantores Minores is a co-founder of the Polish Section of the International Federation of Pueri Cantores. We accomplish our mission by combining the power of Women's experience with musical expression in the following ways: 1) each season we commission one new piece for Women's voices from a female composer; 2) each season, we research, uncover and perform a work for Women's voices by a female composer who has been overlooked in music history; 3) we provide an annual scholarship to one girl to sing with the Phoenix Girl's Chorus and 4) each season, we perform two annual concerts and a variety of local performances in our communities and schools.  less

The Choir is known for its adventurous programming, seeking out music written specifically for women and frequently commissioning new works. Its appearances include performances at the distinguished National Convention of the American Choral Directors Association (February 2003 and March 1997), including memorable New York performances at Carnegie Hall, Riverside Church, and Avery Fisher Hall. Elektra was honoured to represent Canada at the Fourth World Symposium on Choral Music in Sydney, Australia (August 1996). Already in November 2007 it took part in National choral Competition "Cantio Lodziensis" in Lodz and won the second prize and Minister of Education Special Award. Since then, the Choir has taken part in many competitions and Choir festivals in Poland, always winning awards. It is the best of its kind in Lodz and one of the best in Poland. Vox Grata sings concert programs that directly benefit the needs of women in the Nashville community.
