The choir welcomes new members at the...  moreThe Gettin’ Higher Choir seeks to embrace and celebrate humanity’s highest aspirations through music, welcoming people of all ages and cultures. We are not associated with any particular religion or spiritual path. The choir welcomes new members at the beginning of each season in September and February. There is no audition, and no vocal experience is required, just a desire to sing in harmony with others. Our aim is to re-integrate singing into the daily routines of life. We sing for the pure joy and pleasure it gives us, in an atmosphere that is fun, relaxed, and accepting. Our repertoire consists of both traditional and new songs from many cultures. The majority are sung a cappella (unaccompanied) in 4-part harmony. The choir is divided into three chapters, each practicing the same material on either Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday. The 75-member auditioned chorus has appeared at Carnegie Hall and has toured in Eastern Europe, Canada, England, China, and Australia. Experienced singers are welcome to audition and join in the months of September and January.

Our Holiday...  moreThe Connecticut Master Chorale, founded and directed by Tina Johns Heidrich in 1999, is a premier ensemble of 55 professional-caliber vocalists with a precise blend and balance. We present two performances per season in Western Connecticut. Our Holiday Prelude Concerts are accompanied by the Connecticut Master Chorale Holiday Brass, and our Spring Concerts are accompanied by the Connecticut Master Chorale Orchestra. In addition to the regularly scheduled performances, our accomplishments include a Christmas Concert at the White House, a U.S. premiere performance at Lincoln Center, three Carnegie Hall appearances, as well as concerts at West Point, Madison Square Garden, and with the Ridgefield Symphony - all by invitation. We won the annual McDonald’s Gospelfest Competition three years in a row and have appeared on ABC TV. Our recordings have been featured on WMNR Fine Arts Radio in Connecticut.  less

The choir represented Singapore at the 2018 World Choir Games in Tshwane, South Africa, and brought home a gold and a silver medal in separate categories. In 2017, TGS emerged champion for the chamber category in the 5th Vietnam International Choir Competition. Under the leadership of music director, Adyll Hardy, TGS has performed full-length concerts at the Esplanade Recital Studio, Victoria Concert Hall, SOTA Concert Hall and YST Conservatory Concert Hall.
