One year after its founding, it was awarded 1st Prize at the 29th National Music Competition for Young Artists (NAMCYA) held at the Cultural Center of the Philippines. In March of 2011, the Samiweng Singers under the combined efforts of Mr. Caluya and Mr. Cabrales joined the 1st Vietnam International Choir festival and Competition 2011 in Hoi An, Quang Nam, Viet Nam and was proclaimed as the over- all winner in the children's, youth choirs, and sacred music categories. The choir also competed in Cincinnati, Ohio, USA during the 7th World Choir Games in 2012. The choir garnered a Gold IV Diploma and the Winner of the Folklore Category. The choir was declared as one of the 12 most successful Ilocanos by the Ilocos Times. The choir is also a two-time Ani ng Dangal Awardee (2012 and 2013) awarded at the Malacaňang palace and at the Cultrural Center of the Philippines respectivelty. ...    less
