Starting in 2013, this group seeks to foster personal growth of students in 5th through 8th grade by providing opportunities to sing in a variety of environments. We strive to encourage a high level of self-worth, positive self-esteem, and accomplishment. Our goal is to use music as the avenue to encourage students to become lifelong patrons of the arts. Owing much to the polyphonic work of the Renaissance, the motet is a deeply-felt work written during Wesley's period of recuperation from a fall whilst out fishing in the North Yorkshire countryside at Helmsley. The chromatic clashes at the words "the bones which Thou hast broken" are almost certainly reflective of the pain the composer had suffered, for his leg was badly broken and he walked ever after with a noticeable limp. This performance was recorded in Leeds Minster on Sunday 28th April 2013 during the recital of 'Music with Minster connections' sung by St Peter's Singers of Leeds, directed by Dr Simon Lindley. Leeds Minster, formerly Leeds Parish Church, has a long and distinguished musical history. The list of organists and past organists of the Parish Church of St Peter-at-Leeds is outstanding. Open to anyone (age 8+ to adult) with a love of musical theatre, the group works on excel...  moreThe Shrewsbury Theatre Singers is a new and exciting choir that started in September 2021. ​Sessions run on Tuesdays 5:30-7pm during term time, a length of 12 weeks. Open to anyone (age 8+ to adult) with a love of musical theatre, the group works on excelling in musical theatre singing, good vocal techniques and harmony work. Movement and/or acting plays a part, with plenty of opportunities for solo and small group singing if desired.
