Our repertoire is all original, written by choir members and has emerged as a New tribal choral tradition that honors death as a natural, expected, sometimes very inspiring event in a life. While we don't require auditions, our welcome process is rigorous. This kind of singing is spiritual work and is deeply rewarding for those who are called to it.

In August 2009, Mikko Sidoroff started his work as the c...  more The Student Union Choir of the University of Turku (TYY Choir for short, established in 1987) is a mixed choir of approximately 60 Singers from all the faculties and even outside the university. In August 2009, Mikko Sidoroff started his work as the choir’s conductor. The choir’s repertoire mainly consists of a wide variety of a cappella songs. The choir can be found performing in Turku as well as other cities many times throughout the year. Traditionally, there is a quartet concert in January, a spring concert right after May Day (Vappu) and an advent concert in December. The TYY Choir has participated in many venues outside of Turku. The choir represented Finland in the international choir competition in Coleraine, Ireland in 2006. The competition could not have gone any better as the choir won in the category of mixed choir and was given the award as best choir. The choir was formed in 2002 under the dir...  moreThe Vision of Peace Youth Choir are a group of Singers from the ages of 13-30 who use their voices to expres their belief in Toil and Peaceful Life and the Welfare of the World is not Worth the Life of one Child! The choir was formed in 2002 under the directorship of Ellie Davidoff. Choir membership consists of youth from the 8th grade through to college age students. Now in their 13th season, this choir has grown in membership as well as experience. There are still several original members, and every season they are joined by their younger siblings and New friends, who add strength and spirit to the group. The repertoire of the Vision of Peace Youth Choir consists of hymns and folk songs sung in the traditional Doukhobor acapella style that has been passed from generation to generation for over 200 years. The hymns and folk songs as well as the contemporary numbers in their program selection reflect their Doukobor beliefs as well as their steadfast wish for a peaceful existence on this earth.  less
