Don't throw away your shot to join us in our milestone 25th season, including songs from Hamilton, Coldplay and Dear Evan Hansen! Are you a legal professional who's looking for a fresh way to connect with your musical interests and like-minded legal eagles while giving back meaningfully to our community? The 80+ voice New York City Bar Chorus ("CBC") will conduct a limited number of auditions (brief, private and low-pressure), with primary focus on baritones, basses and high sopranos, for our fall 2017 cycle. We rehearse about three Tuesday evenings per month, from 7:00 to 8:30 PM, in midtown Manhattan to produce what listeners describe as a professional-quality sound, spanning musical Theater, jazz, Pop/rock, gospel and classical styles. For example, this fall's repertoire will include sophisticated arrangements of Tony- and Oscar-winning music from Hamilton, Dear Evan Hansen, The Wiz and La La Land. Homechoir members watch and sing along with Ben - teaching is one-way so nobody can hear us but The neighbours! - and are also invited to take part in The live text chat with Ben and with fellow singers around The world. He had retired 12 years previously. What was once a packed out mass full of joy and prayer, families and young couples, singles and religious, was now a quieter mass with no choir and I saddened by this. I offered my services as a singer and musician to come and provide music for The 5:30 mass and within a few short weeks I returned to The place I consider my spiritual home. I had not purposely set out to start a choir but people began to approach me with a desire to sing and it was a need within The community I was not going to Ignore. On The 12th Dec 2008 The Jes Gospel Choir was birThed with 5 singers and me & it was a wonderful experience and we received a very warm welcome. When KeyStone formed nearly two years later, "I'll Be There" became one of Their first songs. We recorded this video in memory of Michael, with gratitude and love. All songs are taught by ear and we don’t expect anyone to learn The words off by heart. However, music can be made available for those who want it. We sing a range of different songs, including Pop, gospel, world music and classical. We mainly sing songs with piano accompaniment, provided by our famous pianist, Geoff. We hold our own annual concert, and we are often invited to sing at oTher local events such as The local MayFest. Our members come along for “enjoyment, friendship and satisfaction as well as singing with a group of like-minded people”. Singing is reputed to release endorphins in The brain, and we’ve certainly noticed amongst us a sense of well-being following rehearsals and in particular, concerts. We are a very sociable bunch and often meet for a drink at The Chimp House on Gloucester Road following our rehearsal on Thursday evenings.
