Calalang, Jr. This speaks of an earnest call to be united under one nation - The Philippines. Performed by The Malabon Concert Singers as their chosen "maka-bayan" piece at the 5th Biñan National Choral Competition last February 3, 2022. Conducted by Mr. Anthony Go Villanueva, the choir emerged as Champion at the conclusion of the contest.

Founded in 1970 by a group of enthusiastic amateur Singers, our repertoire ranges from the great classical choral works to modern ...  moreFrodsham & District Choral Society is a thriving, friendly, non-auditioned mixed voice choir of 90 Singers of all ages. Founded in 1970 by a group of enthusiastic amateur Singers, our repertoire ranges from the great classical choral works to modern contemporary pieces. Under the skilled direction of Howard Kane, who was appointed musical director in 2008, and ably assisted by Robert Woods the choir has grown in size and reputation. Rehearsals Monday nights are rehearsal nights which are held in Frodsham Methodist Church, Kingsley Rd, WA6 6BA from 7.30pm to 9.30pm. New members are welcome to come along and give us a try. We rehearse from September through to July for our four main concerts, which are held in Frodsham, and also take our music to other venues in the area. Groups of Singers from within the choir are available to sing at weddings and the choir regularly puts on events to raise money for local charities.  less

In 1820, Daly was wrongfully acc...  moreThe second piece in Samuel Barber's Reincarnations, Op. 16 Anthony O’Daly was a member of the Whiteboys, a group that resisted encroachments on peasants’ rights to their land with a mixture of rent strikes and violence. In 1820, Daly was wrongfully accused of shooting at a local landowner and condemned to hang. Although the local population acclaimed him as a hero and attempted to help him escape the gallows, he went quietly to his death. "Anthony! Since your limbs were laid out, the stars do not shine! The fish leap, not out in the waves! On our meadows, the dew does not fall in the morn, for O’Daly is dead!" Barber’s song feels like a huge public outpouring of grief. It begins with the basses repeating Anthony’s name on a drone whilst the upper voices sing a keening melody, and the piece builds to hysteria as the sopranos and altos take over the chanted name. There are also suggestions that Raftery’s poem is not a lament but a traditional poet’s curse, calling down retribution in response to Raftery’s...    less

With around 60 members, ranging from 14 years of age upwards. The Rodiilians perform a diverse range of musical styles that are innovative and challenging, having the capacity to move the audience.Their vision and love of music has seen them move from strength to strength and they have been extremely successful in recent years and the future holds much excitement for the choir.
