Director, Pierre Massie, has composed many original pieces for the choir, as well as creating lively and contemporary arrangements of tradItional carols. The release of their first CD Qui creavIt celum, celebrated the Stairwell Carollers' 20th anniversary in 1997. In 2000 they released I Saw a Swete Semly Syght and in 2003 Mourning Dove. Their very first madrigal CD, AudIte nova, was released in October of 2006 and their fourth Xmas CD Laudemus cum armonia in 2009. 2012 marked the release of their first CD of sacred songs from the Renaissance, Cantate Domino, Their fifth Xmas CD O magnum mysterium is now available for purchase. Winner of the 2010 OMFA provincial competItion, they are ranked amongst the best of Canada's choirs. He was a priest in Italy (possibly Verona or Ferrara) and lived from about 1470 to 1521. This song "Dal lecto me levava" appears to have been one of the first of Its kind to signal the move from the tradItional frottole (which had mainly a homophonic movement, and often had just a single voice wIth instruments) into the more familiar madrigal style, where all the lines were sung and where the movement was more contrapuntal.
