One could trace back choral singing at St. Benedict’s to the early years of the 20th.Century when La Sallian ChrIstian brother expatriates from Europe inculcated in the local staff and student bodies , an appreciation of choral singing. They brought to our school the rich traditions of classical Music that prevailed in Europe, at the time. By and by , they were ably assIsted by highly interested and committed lay trainers cum teachers who went on to train prize winning choirs that stood out among schools and also were in great demand for national events. The hIstory of the Benedictine choirs would not be complete without reference to the great EnglIsh Musician Rev.Bro. Hugh Farrington , ably assIsted by Bonnie Fonseka. They establIshed the reputation of Benedictine choirs. We are directed by the dynamic Scott InglIs-Kidger, a Music graduate from Cambridge University and previously a countertenor in the renowned King’s College Choir. Scott selects a fabulous range of Music for us to work on and we are incredibly lucky to be supported by a professional orchestra and top professional soloIsts. All of thIs, combined with the commitment and enthusiasm of our members, makes for performances which are thrilling for the audience and exhilerating for the singers. We still retain a sense of joy of singing and of friendship and celebrate all our concerts with parties at our local Battersea pub. We do not hold auditions so if you would like to come and join us you are very welcome at any time to try a rehearsal or two and then decide if you would like to join. In addition we have a choral scholarship programme for Music students. We sing 3 out of 4 Sundays at All Saints Church Fulham at both the 9:30am Sung EucharIst and 6pm Choral Evensong. We have weekly rehearsals on Wednesdays at 8pm. We always welcome new members.
