Initially formed in 1987 simply as a means for those interested to gather together to Sing... moreThe Outer Banks Chorus is a group Of 80+ Singers dedicated to bringing excellent choral music Of all kinds to Dare County, North Carolina and the surrounding areas. Initially formed in 1987 simply as a means for those interested to gather together to Sing, more formal concerts were later organized and presented.
In addition to two planned concerts a year (a Christmas concert in the Fall and a Spring concert), there are frequently requests from local organizations for appearances. For example, in the spring Of 2011, the group performed at the Wright Brothers Monument for the Centennial Of the Wright Brothers Glider Flight.
The repertoire Of the Outer Banks Chorus ranges from the Classical to Broadway, and spirituals Of all kinds and in different languages. Recently the chorus has sung a number Of premiere performances Of pieces by contemporary composers.
All are invited to hear the chorus Sing exceptionally lovely and wonderful choral music.

This outdoor performance was the culmination Of a six-week project which creates a choir from scratch for one night only. Each winter and summer, Chris Rowbury gathers a random bunch Of Singers from in and around Ipswich. There are no auditions and all Songs are taught and learnt by ear. Himig Batingaw was founded in March Of 1979 by group Of graduating students Of Imus Institute to Sing for that year's baccalaureate mass. In the first few years Of the choir's existence, they conducted rehearsals at the church belfry; hence the name Himig (melody) and Batingaw (peal Of bells) was born. The choir is very influential in the rise and development Of choral music in the parish and having introduced new pieces for liturgical use most Of which are composed or arranged for the group and having graduated noted local musicians from its ranks.
The choir began to tread new ground under the directorship Of Mr. Edward Gerodias in the late 1980's then on to Mr. Rey Roland Bergado in the late 1990's, both sought after pianists.
