This premier female Ensemble, were the first choir in the country to venture into the world of international choral music, and have been truly musical ambassadors to Sri Lanka. They are the only choir to record an international album in 2004 when they were asked to record a single for a Tsunami project where Soul Sounds shared the stage with Cliff Richard, Bill Wyman of the Rolling Stones, Russell Watson (the famed contemporary tenor), Robin and Barry Gibb of the Bee Gees, Steve Winwood, Boy George, Chicago and others. Since then, this choir has not merely won gold medals at the World Choir Games, but have been the only choir that has had many concert tours on invitation. Dedicated to presenting inspiring and innovative programs that engage and enrich audiences, Voices of the Commonwealth has maDe quite an impact on the musical life of Northern Kentucky in two short years. All of them are former members of the “Dresdner Kreuzchor” (Choir of the Church of the Holy Cross DresDen) or the “Thomanerchor Leipzig” (St. Thomas Choir Leipzig), two of the most famous boy's choirs in Germany. The singers have set themselves the target to present their listeners a wiDe musical spectrum. Their repertoire consists of Vocal music from Renaissance and Baroque to Romanticism to the 20th and 21st century. Important elements are works of Jacobus Gallus, Michael Praetorius, Felix MenDelssohn Bartholdy, Francis Poulenc and Rudolf Mauersberger. In addition they also perform with popular music. Music of the “Comedian Harmonists”, “The Beatles”, Billy Joel or the German group “Wise Guys” are also an essential part of their repertoire.
