Dec 2010 in the Sandnes kirke. As you may observe, former members of the choir (those without the burgundy coates) are welcomed up to join the choir in this finale song in each concert, as it has been for 37 years in a row! (and if they are observed by the conductor when arriving to the churc and choose NOT to join, they are very kindly told to do so! This caused a special occasion in this concert: a mother and a daughter singing in the same choir! :-)) This year our guest conductor Inger Lise Hope, also a former member, took on the job at short notice because of illness. Indeed, she did a great job in three concerts!  less

We accomplish our mission by combining the power of women's experience with musical expression in the following ways: 1) each season we commission one new piece for women's voices from a female composer; 2) each season, we research, uncover and perform a work for women's voices by a female composer who has been overlooked in music history; 3) we provide an annual scholarship to one girl to sing with the Phoenix Girl's Chorus and 4) each season, we perform two annual concerts and a variety of local performances in our communities and schools.  less

The piece builds to climax at "for Thine is the Power and Glory forever!" and ends reflectively, savoring the "Amen". THE COMPOSER: Composer Vijay Singh is Professor in the music department at Central Washington University.
