Members saw the need for a name which reflected their distinctive sound and musical objectives. They chose Voyces – a uniting image, powerful in its simplicity, a word with a bit of a twist, reflecting the eclectic and often unusual repertoire of the Choir. In using the archaic spelling – ‘Voyces’ – the Choir acknowledges thousands of years of rich choral tradition whilst establishing itself in the 21st century choral landscape. The Choir is fast making a name for itself premiering works never before heard in Perth or in fact the world. Voyces seeks to be an interactive and involved performing group in the local WA and wider Australian musical community. As a strong supporter of emerging young composers and Australian composers, Voyces showcases their works on a regular basis.  less

The group's first piece—William Byrd’s “This sweet and merry month of May”, whose ending celebrated Queen Elizabeth I with the words and greet Eliza with a rhyme: O beauteous Queen of Second Troy, Take well in worth a simple toy. provided a great name for the group. Eliza’s Toyes was born, and existed every summer in Madison, Wisconsin. In 2008, a fair number of singers who were in Eliza's Toyes are living in Madison once again. Thus we gather, outside of the Festival, for the joy of music making. It is our pleasure to continue sharing this wonderful body of music with you for the second year!  less

Since then the Choir has been not only one of the best Choirs in it`s home country Latvia but also recognized and awarded in many international Choir contests. The Choir has participated in countless international Choir festivals and performed abroad, for example, in Portugal, Japan, Canada, United States of America and many more. Founder of the Choir was Mefodijs Skuja but the greatest achievments DZINTARS succeeded with perennial conductor Ausma Derkēvica.
