He conducts this performance of his work "The Annunciation", scored for solo soprano and unaccompanied chorus. The work depicts the revelation to the Virgin Mary by the Angel Gabriel that she will conceive a son to be the saviour of humankind. The Giovanni Consort is a chamber vocal ensemble based in Perth, Western Australia. The group performs a wide range of choral music from medieval to modern times and is renowned for its exquisite musicianship and attention to detail. This video was recorded at their December 2012 concert, "Hodie Christus" in the Dining Hall of St. George's College at the University of Western Australia. Many of these performances were under the batons of the choir's late Presidents Richard Hickox and Sir Charles Mackerras, and included concerts at the BBC Proms, broadcasts on BBC radio 3, BBC 4, and studio CD reco...    less
